The Gestic Play Tester is a free goldfishing (solitaire) tool. Shuffle a deck, keep or mulligan your opening hand, and play through your turns to see how consistently it performs — with real card art, counters, trackers, tokens, and dice.
What it does
Everything you need to goldfish a deck
A full digital tabletop for one player: move cards freely between zones, keep score, and try out lines — without an opponent and without setting up in real life.
Drawing & the library
- Opening hand with the London mulligan, including choosing which cards go to the bottom.
- Draw one card, or draw several at once.
- Search / tutor your library for any card.
- Scry, surveil, reveal the top card, and mill.
- Send the top card anywhere, or reshuffle at any time.
The battlefield
- Drag cards between every zone: hand, battlefield, graveyard, exile, and command.
- An auto-sorted board that groups lands, creatures, and everything else.
- Tap or untap with a click, plus untap all, tap all, and proliferate.
- Double-faced and transforming cards flip to their real back face.
- Real card art from Scryfall, with hover-to-zoom.
Counters & card changes
- +1/+1 and −1/−1 counters, loyalty, and many other types — plus custom counters.
- Set a custom power/toughness, or make a token copy of any card.
- Rotate a card 180°, dim it, and attach oracle text or your own notes.
Tokens, markers & emblems
- A searchable token catalog from Scryfall, with real art, power/toughness, and abilities.
- Recently-used tokens for one-click re-adds.
- Emblems with art, and one-click designations: the Monarch, the Initiative, City's Blessing, Day/Night.
- Add any card to the battlefield by name.
Trackers
- Life, poison, energy, and experience counters.
- A per-color mana pool and a turn counter.
- A running game log of every action.
Dice & screen sharing
- Roll a single die or several at once (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, d100), and flip a coin.
- Every roll shows a large on-screen result and is written to the log — ideal for playing over a shared screen.
Commander & quality of life
- Automatic command zone and 40-life detection for Commander / EDH decks.

Getting started
Three steps to a test game

Open a deck
Launch the Play Tester from a deck in your Gestic collection. Your commander and card printings come along automatically.

Keep or mulligan
You start with a seven-card hand. Keep it, or take a London mulligan and choose which cards to put on the bottom.

Play it out
Draw, play lands and spells, tap for mana, make tokens, and track your life and counters — press ? anytime for shortcuts.

What is goldfishing or playtesting?
Goldfishing means playing your deck on your own, with no opponent, to see how consistently it draws, curves out, and does its thing. It's the fastest way to feel out your mulligan decisions and early turns before a real game.
Is it free?
Yes — completely free, and no account is required. It runs entirely in your browser.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The Play Tester is a web page, so there's nothing to download or install. It works in any modern browser.
How do I load my deck?
Open a deck from your Gestic collection and launch the Play Tester, or open a deck link directly. The tool reads the deck straight from Gestic, including your commander for Commander decks.
Does it work on mobile?
It runs in mobile browsers, but a larger screen is more comfortable because so much of playtesting is dragging cards between zones.
Can I play a real game with a friend?
The Play Tester is a solitaire tool with no built-in multiplayer, but with the life and counter trackers plus the dice roller and its big on-screen result, two people can run a casual game over a shared screen.
Does it enforce the rules?
No. It's a digital tabletop, not a rules engine. You move cards freely between zones exactly as you would in a physical playtest, which keeps it fast and flexible.
